Les Vignes is a superb converted farmhouse, with pool, in the village centre of Abjat Sur Bandiat, in the Dordogne, Aquitaine, just 10 kms from Nontron. A fabulous holiday home to let in the heart of the National Park. Our village has two bars/restaurants, local shops and PO. Close by, Nontron and Piegut Pluviers offer supermarkets and all general amenities. The Wednesday morning market at Piegut boasts to be one of the largest and most vibrant in the region, though you can pretty much find one most days of the week, selling regional delicacies, such as foie gras, truffles, snails and wine along with all the usual market fare. The fruit and vegetables need to be tasted to be believed! The village offers marked walking trails with diverse wildlife, bike hire, tennis courts and fishing, and nearby 3 recreational lakes with beaches and water sports. The house has been lovingly restored, leaving many original features in place. Wooden floors, oak beams and stone walls (along with effective central heating), make for warm comfortable rooms in winter, and cool welcoming ones during the year’s warmer months. It comprises 5 bedrooms, a comfy lounge and dining room, spacious kitchen (both with wood burning Godin stoves), 3 bathrooms and a separate wc. Our sunny terrace and pool are furnished with a BBQ, and pool alarm, for safe swimming, and lounging! TV, video, DVD, Satellite, washing machine and microwave are also provided, as well as books, games, bedlinen and extra beds, if required.

Only 45 minutes from Angouleme, Perigueux, and Limoges (where the nearest airport is), all the usual tourist attractions are just a drive away, including caves, chateaux, churches, war memorials, museums and aquariums, for entertaining days out, or just simply for a bit of retail therapy! The town of Brantome, known as 'The Venice of the Perigord Vert', offers canoeing in the most picturesque setting on the river Dronne, and quaint shops, cafes and restaurants, but is great for picnics too! Families are well catered for, in the region, with velo-rail (biking with a difference), quad-biking, go-karting on a championship track and 'acrobois' (acrobatics in the woods!), being proven favourites. The 3 recreational lakes nearby, offer supervised swimming and watersports, with 'beaches', and snack bars and 2.5 hrs west, is Bordeaux and the coast. Bergerac, the second nearest airport, is about 2 hrs away, and the town is fantastic for sight-seeing, and has a fabulous market too! If none of the above interests you, Abjat, though in the bustling Dordogne, is perfect for relaxing, and many a glass of wine has been sipped, books read, and dozes taken, on our sunny terrace, by the pool. Interspersed with the odd amble to the local bar, or walk through the woods to catch a glimpse of the local wildlife. If you choose a break in October, The French National conker team defend their titles here, (no, I'm NOT joking!)which is a fab day for all the family, with organised games, bands, conkers (REALLY!!) and lots of fun. In June we have the popular 'fete de musique', and December brings the Christmas market. Abjat Sur Bandiat can be a holiday destination all year round!
